As part of the five-year Parks Canada Infrastructure Program, a replacement bridge is being constructed at Bakers Brook in Gros Morne National Park on the Western Shore of Newfoundland.
To facilitate this and other bridge replacements, Parks Canada purchased a re-deployable Algonquin Modular Panel Bridge System from Algonquin Bridge. Its first deployment is as a temporary detour bridge at this site. It will be de-launched in 2018 and stored at the Parks Canada yard in Rocky Harbour until the next project.
Kinky is good (for dead load deflection)
To reduce dead load deflection on the bridge, specialized kinked bays were ordered from Algonquin and incorporated into the 60.96 m design.
