When Parks Canada’s $2.6 billion infrastructure investment trickled down to a Southeast Brook replacement project in Gros Morne, Algonquin Bridge was ready with an Algonquin Modular Panel Bridge system to serve as a temporary detour.

Our AIL Group sibling has a nose for being helpful
As a member of the AIL Group of Companies, Algonquin can also rely its AIL Group of siblings such as Atlantic Industries Limited (AIL). That came in handy on this project, as the ‘launch nose’ segment was able to be stored at their Deer Lake facility until it was needed again for de-launch.

Two-lane, triple-double, 45 m span assembled and installed in 10 days
The system was shipped to the site and assembled and installed in just 10 days, using the cantilevered launch sequence with the tilted ‘launch nose’ module at the end.

Past project history with contractor was key
Our companies have been built on mutually-successful relationships with a high degree of repeat clients. We are happy to have worked once again with long-standing project partner, Johnson’s Construction Ltd. of Corner Brook. Their Structures Division Manager, Lloyd Osmond, offered the following comments:

“The installation went well. We had a few technical queries that were answered in a timely manner from the Algonquin team. Overall, from our progress meetings, Parks Canada is very pleased with how the installation turned out and the bridge is functioning well for them.”
