A 39 m Algonquin Bowstring Truss Pedestrian/Trail Bridge is a vital part of the new Aerotech Connector that recently opened near Halifax, NS, to give local communities better access to Highway 102, Aerotech Industrial Park and Robert L. Stanfield International Airport. The new route was officially opened in mid-August by the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works (NSDPW).
The new bridge connects another section of the province’s “Blue Route” cycling trail system, allowing better access for recreational enthusiasts, cyclists and those who work at the industrial park or the airport.
Bridge features triple-coated enamel finish and laminated hardwood decking
The structure uses a three-coat enamel epoxy paint system, providing the best available protection against corrosion. A durable Douglas Fir No.1 timber deck was specified by NSDPW.
Algonquin representatives met on location with NSDPW and Dexter Construction and they expressed how pleased they were with the outcome.
Algonquin Bridge has also designed and supplied similar bridges in Nova Scotia, such as this one over Highway 101 near Digby and this one over the Highway 103 connector at Ingramport.
