  Like the city itself, the Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is growing by leaps and bounds, with phased, multi-year infrastructure upgrades and expansions. As part of this growth, the Algonquin team designed and supplied a smart-looking T1000 Bolted Bowstring Truss Bridge — one of the first of its kind in Western Canada.

• 80 m Algonquin Modular Bolted Truss Bridge cantilever launched to reconnect Cape Breton community

  The village of Mira Gut sits on either side of the Mira River where it meets the ocean on the southeastern shore of Cape Breton Island. An iconic century-old swing bridge had connected the two sides of the community until it had deteriorated to the point that the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works deemed it unsafe in 2017 and it was torn down. As a result, the community was faced with a 20-minute detour to reach to other side.

  This project was a different one for the Algonquin team. We were contracted by the Ministère des Transports du Quebec (MTQ) to provide site assistance and certification for the re-deployment of their two Algonquin Modular Bolted Truss Bridge Systems as temporary detour bridges on Autoroute 40.
