An Algonquin Prefabricated Pedestrian Truss Bridge has given Mirabel neighbourhoods a safer connection and a nice way to pay tribute to a local community hero. The Guy Charron Bridge was officially opened on August 30, 2025, with a special ceremony to honour his memory with a commemorative plaque unveiling. Mr. Charron had received the Governor General of Canada’s Medal of Bravery in 1993 for his heroic actions on August 5, 1991.
The 32.6 m active transportation bridge was delivered in two sections, spliced together on site and lifted into position on the awaiting abutments. It ran adjacent to busy rue Brault, so a galvanized finish was selected to provide additional resilience to aggressive road de-icing agents and salts.
Second Algonquin Bridge project in Mirabel
The contractor, Construction Vert Dure, handled the installation very professionally and their team was a pleasure to work with. They provided us with the photos for this article as well as this short video of the installation.
The concrete block abutment structures were slightly different than we expected, so we designed a custom threshold plate to cover a small gap.
This is our second bridge for Mirabel.
