When the original Beaver River Bridge on Regional Road 15 in the Township of Brock, Ontario, was closed, the Regional Municipality of Durham opted for a temporary detour bridge as part of the replacement project. They chose an Algonquin Modular Bridge System on a 36-month rental agreement to keep the community connected while the permanent replacement is constructed.
The 45.7 m bridge, located just east of Beaverton, was officially opened to traffic in November of 2024, reconnecting residents and businesses with a safe and reliable bridge in record time. Check out the above Durham Region video. The permanent replacement bridge is expected to be completed in 2027.
The Algonquin Bridge team is proud to have supported this effort with in-house engineering, the bridge system and on-site expertise. A special shout-out to the team at Durham Region (Megan Duhig, Paul Gee and Jeff MacDonald) for their exceptional leadership, and to Elirpa Construction & Materials Ltd. for an outstanding crane-assisted installation. Your dedication made this project a success!
“I appreciate the commitment of our partners, Algonquin Bridge and Elirpa Construction and Materials Ltd., in completing this important time-sensitive project for the community of Beaverton and surrounding areas.”
— Paul Gee, Manager, Transportation Infrastructure Management, Durham Region
