Choking busy Highway 17 down to one-lane for the duration of the Petawawa River Bridge Restoration project, was not something that The Ministry of Transportation – Ontario (MTO) was very keen on. And neither were the thousands of motorists who use it every day.
Renting the Algonquin Modular Panel Bridge saves traffic hassles and capital costs
The heavy-duty two-lane detour bridge helped avoid traffic congestion, but it also provided some pain relief on capital expenses, with only the shorter-term rental cost to allocate.
Rental bridge packaged with steel pier towers
Along with the components for the three spans, Algonquin Bridge also supplied the modular steel towers to be used as piers at the span junctions.
One of the largest temporary detour bridges in Canada
This is one of the longest and heaviest temporary detour bridges that has been installed in Canada. The main span is 76.749 m with a roadway width of 9.145 m, complete with asphalt overlay.
Tight site, staged delivery
Due the very tight build area, our components were delivered in stages, assembled in sequence and the cantilevered sections gradually advanced across the river from one shore to the other.
