Seguin Valley is a popular recreation area near Parry Sound, Ontario, and snowmobiling is a passionate pursuit for many there. Needless to say, the pressure was on in the fall of 2022 to replace a failing trail bridge ahead of the sledding season. The project partners selected an Algonquin Modular Bridge System for the new span, but we only had 6 to 8 weeks’ lead time from order to delivery.
Split POs accelerated snowmobile bridge project
To speed up the project, the customer split their purchase orders — one for the bridge purchase itself and one for the installation contract. This let us get busy with the design and supply of the bridge, while they concentrated on the tender for the abutments and installation work.
Our teams had to jump into action
Our teams had to jump into action to produce drawings and procure materials as soon as possible. Our project coordinators worked closely with the owner and the contractor, Marine Pro, to meet the required delivery date. The new bridge was opened on schedule and the snowmobilers were happy.
Near the end of the 2022 construction season, Tulloch was engaged by the Township of Seguin to plan for a feasible and long-term solution to repair or replace the Seguin Trail Bridge. Shortly after our involvement, it became apparent that the bridge was in very poor condition and required either extensive repairs or complete replacement to ensure public safety for the upcoming snowmobile season. With timing, weather and material lead times playing a major factor in the decision process, the Township opted for replacement and Tulloch assisted in engaging Algonquin Bridge and Marine Pro to help expedite the project. All hands were on deck during all phases of the project: deadlines for design, material delivery and construction were met, with great communication between all parties. Algonquin Bridge did an excellent job to successfully complete this project which allowed snowmobile trails to be opened on time!
