Silverleaf is a new neighbourhood southwest of London, Ontario. This residential community is rimmed by a stream and a pond with a system of waterside walking trails.
York Developments purchased three Algonquin Pedestrian Bridges to serve as stream crossings and connect their trail system to adjoining neighbourhoods.

It pays to shop local
We are often highlighting our expertise in shipping our prefabricated bridges across the country or even as far north as Baffin Island, but this time the delivery — just down the road, on the other side of London from our Thorndale plant — represented a great saving to the client.
Keeping it local, our in-house engineering team looked after the bridge, while London’s own SBM (Strik Baldinelli Moniz) designed the abutment structures. Oakville’s Bronte Construction was the contractor. The abutments and the installation were on separate private tenders.
Cast-in-place concrete decking
The bridges feature a cast-in-place concrete decking system, also designed by our in-house team.
Their naturally weathering steel finish develops a delicate patina over time and never needs sandblasting or painting maintenance– another cost advantage to the owner.
The bridges were ordered in three different spans to suit each crossing: 11 m, 20 m and 23 m.
