Standard driving surfaces use steel deck panels with an epoxy aggregate anti-skid coating designed to resist mechanical wear from heavy military vehicles. Asphalt-ready steel decking and timber surfaces are also available.

R800 bridges are designed and constructed to support heavy tracked and wheeled military tanks and armoured vehicles up to MLC 120T/150W. For dual-use applications, they can also meet civil bridge code standards, subject to applicable provincial live-load requirements.
