• 80 m Algonquin Modular Bolted Truss Bridge cantilever launched to reconnect Cape Breton community

  The village of Mira Gut sits on either side of the Mira River where it meets the ocean on the southeastern shore of Cape Breton Island. An iconic century-old swing bridge had connected the two sides of the community until it had deteriorated to the point that the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works deemed it unsafe in 2017 and it was torn down. As a result, the community was faced with a 20-minute detour to reach to other side.

• Algonquin team supports MTQ in redeploying their two Modular Bolted Truss Bridges on Autoroute 40

  This project was a different one for the Algonquin team. We were contracted by the Ministère des Transports du Quebec (MTQ) to provide site assistance and certification for the re-deployment of their two Algonquin Modular Bolted Truss Bridge Systems as temporary detour bridges on Autoroute 40.

  Highway 10 skips across picturesque Coles Island thanks to a pair of iconic double arch steel truss bridges less than a kilometre apart. Unfortunately, these old bridges were in dire need of replacement.

• Custom vehicular detour bridge readied by Algonquin Bridge for MTQ in just nine weeks

  Our talented fabrication crews are currently working on the longest Vehicular Girder Bridge ever designed and built by Algonquin Bridge. Designed to be reusable, the 28.8 m span is being prepared for the Ministre des Transports Quebec (MTQ) for use as a detour bridge at Canton de Restigouche, near Matapedia in the Gaspé region.

• Two rental detour bridge packages keep Halifax neighbourhoods connected, rail traffic running

  As part of CN's multi-year effort to rehabilitate several concrete arch bridges over the rail-cut that runs through peninsular Halifax, we recently designed and supplied two Algonquin Modular Panel Bridge packages to be used as temporary detours at the Marlborough Wood and Belmont on the Arm crossings deep in Halifax's toney South End.

• Seven rental bridges provide construction access on Don Valley East Trail project

  The City of Toronto is working with Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) to design and construct a multi-use trail system within the East Don Corridor between the north end of Charles Sauriol Conservation Area, the Lower Don Trail System and the Gatineau Corridor Trail.
  Supported by $23 million in federal funding, the East Don Trail Project is being built in a steep ravine area with limited access for heavy construction vehicles with CL625-ONT loading. Seven construction access stream crossings are required to carry out the project and Algonquin Bridge is supplying a series of rented Algonquin Modular Panel Bridge Systems to create them

• Nova Scotia chooses to go with an Algonquin Modular Bridge for Cape Breton project

  The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (NSTIR) has selected another large Algonquin Modular Panel Bridge from Algonquin Bridge for a replacement project in Margaree Centre, Cape Breton. The new 76.5 m span will replace an aging and badly damaged wooden pier structure.

• MTQ to inventory two large Algonquin Modular Panel Bridge Systems in emergency replacement bridge preparedness plan

  To help Quebec be better prepared for future emergency replacements, Algonquin Bridge is supplying two of the longest single-span Algonquin Modular Panel Bridges in Canada to the Ministère des Transports Quebec (MTQ).

• Rental detour bridge part of Highway 97 flood mitigation strategy in northeastern BC

  Commotion Creek was the hardest hit area during the devastating June 2016 floods that swept through the Peace River Valley in northeastern BC. Culverts under Highway 97 and a rail crossing were completely washed out as a heavy mountain snow melt combined with an unprecedented 120 mm of rainfall in just 72 hours.

• Two, heavy-duty Algonquin construction bridges rented for Kitchener road extension project

  When a 1.3-km road was being created to open up a potential 2,000-home development near Kitchener, Ontario, there was going to be a great deal of earth moving required. Heavy construction vehicles would be criss-crossing the hilly terrain that was home to two endangered species and Strasburg Creek.

• Algonquin rental pedestrian bridge plays part in BC’s Saanich Interchange Project

  The Province of British Columbia and the Government of Canada are investing $85 million in the development and construction of the McKenzie Interchange Project, a new partial cloverleaf on the Trans-Canada Highway at the Intersection with Admirals Road and McKenzie Avenue in Saanich. The existing signalled intersection is the worst traffic bottleneck on Vancouver Island.

• Temporary rental bridge deployed into Toronto’s Humber Valley for access to embankment project

  One of our Algonquin Rental Bridge Systems recently helped the Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) reach an inaccessible bank of the Humber River for an important erosion control and slope stabilization project. The eroding bank was a risk to a large housing complex above and could only be accessed by crossing from a park on the opposite shore.
